About the City
Situated in the southern part of the People Republic of China, Guangzhou is also known with an English name of Canton. The South China Sea, Hong Kong and Macau lie very close to Guangzhou while the third largest river of China, the Pearl River flows through the city. Quite often called as the South Gate of China, Guangzhou consists of an area of 7434.4 square kilometers (2870 square miles) which gives home to a large number of people from other regions of China.
