According to the sources of the Yuexiu District Spring Festival Flower Market Headquarters, the annual Xihu Road Flower Market and Donghu Flower Market are going to open on 23rd January, 2009. The longest-running flower market will have a different attraction this year as the visitors will get an opportunity to enjoy the musical elements wrapped in the traditional old charm of the city.

To highlight Guzheng music, a special performance stand has been established at the "hexagonal pavilion" at the crossing of the Jiao Road and Xihu Road Flower Market. The artists will be performing live to entertain the visitors. Adding to the glamour of the show, the Pailou design will highlight a glimpse of next year’s flower market.

In order to attract more people and to help them understand the market better, the flower market will be making announcements in Cantonese, Putonghua and English as well. Two professional English interpreters have been contracted by the flower market and all the guiding instructions are planned to be given in Chinese and English.
